2014 Memory Jar DIY

Happy New Year!

To kick off the new year, I though what would be better than a DIY. So today I'll be showing you how to make a memory jar. Now most of you probably know (by now) what a memory jar is but if you don't I'll explain. A memory jar is where you write down goals you accomplish, gifts you may have received and other happy things that have happen during the year. Then you put all your notes in a jar and on new years eve you read all your happy memories (that you wrote down).

Last year was the first time I made a jar and last night I read all my notes (which made me so happy). Some of the memories I wrote down I had completely forgotten about.

If you have never kept a memory jar, I would definitely keep one this year. Below I'll show you one way you can add some pizzazz to your jar.

Lets Get Crafty!

Supplies

Jar

Mod Podge

Glue Gun

Number Stickers

Foamboard/Cardboard

Craft Knife

Glitter

Paintbrush

Pencil

Letter Stickers

Scrapbooking Paper

Scissors (not pictured)

Step 1: Take a number sticker and apply it to the formboard. Then trace around the number with a pencil.

Step 2: Remove the sticker from the foamboard and cut out your numbers with a craft knife.

Step 3: Once your numbers are cut out, apply some mod podge to the front and cover them in glitter. Then when your numbers are dry, flip them over and repeat this step. When your numbers are completely covered in glitter and dry, you can spray them with a clear acrylic spay to seal the glitter (but thats optional).

Step 4: With some scrapbooking paper, cut out a circle that will cover the top of your jar. Once you have the circle cut out, glue it to the jar lid with some Mod Podge and let it dry.

Step 5: Take your hot glue gun and glue your numbers in place on the top of your jar.

Step 6: With your letter stickers, spell out a phrase to put on the front of your jar. I wrote Happy 2014 Memories but you could use your favorite quote, your name or you can leave your jar blank.

Once this step is done, add your lid and start filling up your jar with memories!!!
